NEEDLES CA. MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND

It has been a week or so since my last blog but I have been having a wonderful time.

Memorial Day weekend in Needles CA was different. The RV Park was actually a gated community of manufactured homes used as vacation homes. After the construction of the community, there was more room than was needed for the houses so they put in RV spots with services. When I arrived the place was empty. I had the pool to myself and it was very quiet. Then on Thursday, people started to arrive. Big trucks, big fifth wheels, big motorhomes, big boats, big golf carts. The traffic picked up and by Friday the place was rocking. There were young kids driving golf carts at high speeds, motor boats being put in the river along with jet skis by the dozens. If this weekend was any indication, the financial woes of California are over.

There were young families and I watched as a mom handed over her 10 month old to a guy on a jet ski and then he took off down the river. Not sure why a baby needed to go on a jet ski but I stuck around and watched until they arrived back safe and sound. The river was crazy with every type of water craft driven as if this was their last day on earth.

The heat was cruel. By 7am it was 80 degrees and didn’t stop until it was over 100!!! There was no breeze but luckily the A/C in the trailer worked. There was almost no shade and absolutely no trees. It was fun while it lasted but I was glad to leave.
